Background knowledge
The flag of Tyrol has two horizontal stripes, white and red. In the center is a white coat of arms backed with a red eagle. Around his head are six leaves arranged in a circle as a wreath.
The flag of Tyrol was already used in the early 19th century. The colors of the horizontal stripes, red and white, are derived from the coat of arms.The current coat of arms is also the old provincial coat of arms and was already used around 1280.
